Weed encrusted
The boat had to be towed to the crane lift because the rope cutter had been damaged when I routinely ran the engine and propeller for maintenance. The tow went well then things went pear shaped. The back stays had to be removed because the crane lift isn't tall enough to lift our boat with the back stays in place. They haven't been touched since we put the mast back up at the bottom of the Rhone.
After about an hour and copious amounts of WD40 I got the starboard stay off. No amount of WD40, nor large amounts of force was going to free the port stay. The marina even tried heating it to expand it. Finally they cut through the bottle screw. Lift out (not lift off) was finally achieved at 13:30 and the bottom power washed, just in time for lunch.
Rope round shaft forced cutter back
After lunch I fixed the rope cutter and replaced the main anode then started cleaning the prop. It wasn't bad but I wanted to do a thorough job. It was after 19:00 when I retired to the hotel and soothed my aching muscles in a nice hot bath while sipping cava! See what day 2 brings!
Primer and anti-fouling done by Club Nautic. Pep came and did 2 test patches to work out a quote. He is coming tomorrow to do the work, may get back in the water tomorrow afternoon. Finished cleaning the prop and fitted new prop-shaft anode. Bought a new bottle-screw (tensioner) for the backstay.
Highly polished hull
Pep spent all day polishing, you can see your face in the reflection. Back in the water just before 17:00. Made a perfect entry into the berth and Albert helped with the lines.
Fixed rope cutter and polished prop
Back in the berth I reconnected and tensioned the back stays.
Took a lot of photos while boat out of water.
Summary: I can highly recommend Club Nautic Vilanova for the work they did. It was professional and good value for money. I would also recommend Pep pintar (Pep the painter), he did a great job polishing the hull.
