Summer 2016

Mallorca

We slowly moved out of the finca towards the End of May and didn't leave the quay until the 4th June. Didn't go far during the next few weeks, alternating between anchoring in the bay and time on the quay. Debbie came for a week so we had lots of menu-del-dia, then Tan went to Wales for three weeks.

During the first half of July we ping-ponged between Pollenca and   until finally departing for Menorca. The journey from Cala es Calo to   took six and a half hours.

Menorca

After two nights at Fontanellas we moved on to Fornells where we stayed for nine nights. During which time we had a great evening meal at Sa Nansa, went shopping by bus to Es Mercadel and survived strong gale force winds with 50m anchor chain layed out. Some yachts dragged and got entangled, we were ok. We also met up with Michael and Terresa.

Mallorca

On the 29th July after a ten and a quarter hour passage we anchored under Fort Aleza in Pollenca bay at 16:50 for one night. Then three nights on the Quay at Pollenca shopping and cleaning.

On the 3rd August we finally made it to   but only for one night because of the weather forecast. However we did manage to have lunch at Pepe's.

Next day we were back in Pollenca. We spent the rest of the summer either on the quay or anchoring in the bay or Cala es Calo, Alcanada, or Bonaire although we did try a soiree round to the east coast to Caleta de Font Salada. We decided not to anchor because of the swell so set course for Alcanada. After 15 minutes the wind suddenly jumped to 20kn from the SW then continued to increase to 31kn so after struggling half way across the bay of Alcudia I changed course for the bay of Pollenca where strangely it was much calmer, so we anchored off Bonaire with one superyacht and several large boats all taking shelter.

It's been the driest summer for 50 years. Finally some rain in mid-September. On the 24th we took the boat onto he quay for the winter. One day ahead of a severe thunder storm which dumped 39.6 l/sq metre in a torrential downpour.
